kim & mike – october 26, 2012

Kim and I first met back in high school through mutual friends. I was so excited to hear she got engaged and even more thrilled that she wanted my help with the planning. We had so much fun getting together to talk about all her ideas. Being a designer for Quiksilver, Kim has an amazing eye for fashion. When she told me she was making her wedding dressed, I died! I What an amazing thing to be able to do.

On the day of her wedding, Kim looked stunning in her handmade gown. It fit her like a glove and was absolutely gorgeous! I always look forward to the moment I see the bride in their dress for the first time – but even more so when it’s one of my good friends. She couldn’t wipe the smile off of her face and I could tell she was so excited to marry her best friend.

Their wedding and reception were held at Rancho Las Lomas. I had been dying to do a wedding there again ever since working there back in 2007. It is such an amazing place to get married. This beautifully styled wedding was full of creative details and DIY elements. Kim and Mike thought of everything when it came to decorating the venue. One of my favorite things was the small burlap hearts that lined the pathways heading down to the ceremony. Each heart had a little note about Kim and Mike and their relationship – the date they got engaged, their dog’s name, their favorite type of music, etc. I also couldn’t get enough of their table arrangements! They had an assortment of different size jars with small flowers as well as big manzanita arrangements. They also put a feather on each place setting which was the perfect compliment to the menus they had made to go around their napkins.

For Mike and Kim, nothing could stand in the way of their perfect day. Even when the power suddenly turned off in the middle of their first dance, they kept right on dancing, like they didn’t even notice. A few seconds later, the bridal party started singing. Soon, everyone was serenading the couple as they danced in the darkness – it was such an awesome moment! The rest of the night, guests got their groove on while sipping on cocktails – a lot of cocktails. This group came ready to celebrate. Even as I was leaving around midnight, the party was still going strong.

{Kim & Mike – I couldn’t imagine your wedding day being any better! Every detail truly reflected your personalities and more importantly, your love for each other.
