melissa & curtis // june 14, 2014

Melissa and I went to high school together and have since kept in touch mainly through Facebook. When Melissa contacted me about her upcoming wedding at Talega, of course I was excited! First, because she was engaged and second, that place is like my home away from home when it comes to wedding venues. We talked many times throughout the planning process discussing details, music and other wedding business. We also discussed life details – one of my favorite parts about my job. My brides aren’t just clients, more importantly, they are my friends.

After a long year of planning, the day had finally arrived. Excitement filled the air as Melissa and her bridesmaids prepared for the biggest day of her life. Eager to see the bride in her gown, I snuck a peak into the room where they were getting ready. Melissa looked gorgeous in her wedding dress, which fit her like a glove. Not many people can pull off a bolero like she did. Oohs and ahhs were heard as she stepped out of the car to make her way down the aisle. Glancing over at Curtis, I could see the love and adoration he had for his soon to be wife. As she floated down the aisle, she was beaming from ear to ear. Their separate journeys to get them to this day had now become one from this moment forward. They said their vows and sealed them with a perfect kiss. Finally, they were husband and wife!

When it came to the design and decor aspects of the wedding, Melissa was very creative. She did such a great job sticking to her vision and bringing everything together. One of my favorite details from their wedding, was the centerpieces. I absolutely loved the stacked books paired with the mercury candles and florals. The cake was another favorite of mine. I’ve never seen someone use a tree stump as a cake stand – perfection. Melissa and Curtis also treated their guests to a variety of lawn games during cocktail hour. The guests had a blast playing bocce ball, jenga and corn hole.

After cocktail hour was over and dinner served, the real party began. Guests flooded the dance floor and DJ Tim Espinosa did a fabulous job keeping them there. Throughout the reception, Melissa and Curtis never lost sight of one another. They shared dances, laughs and many hugs and kisses. When it came time for the bride and groom to make their grand exit, nobody wanted to leave. Reluctant to stop the party, guests made their way outside to send Curtis and Melissa off with sparklers. As they climbed into their getaway car, they shared one last kiss for their family and friends.

{Melissa & Curtis – Thank you from the bottom of my heart for trusting me with all the details of your big day! I had a blast working with you and your families and loved everything about your wedding. I hope you share many more dances, laughs, hugs and kisses. I wish you guys nothing but the best in your future as husband and wife! I hope your honeymoon was amazing! Congratulations!}
